在10月21日,我们的ALI哈佛领导力课程导师John Lim来到北京三里屯儿,现场全英文开讲,带在场和线上观看直播的同学们全面、立体地认识了ALI哈佛领导力课程。
我们独家承办的ALI哈佛领导力课程是与CAL亚洲领导力中心合作,那么——
这是个什么机构?
称为“亚洲”领导力中心,那么它又真正走过了多少国家、多少城市?
在中国他们又曾前往哪里?
麾下有来自多少国家、哪些学校的授课学者?
师资中到底有多少来自哈佛的学者?
课程中又教授什么,基于什么框架?

——这些疑问,导师John都亲自细细讲解。

亚洲领导力中心在2014年成立于美国麻省剑桥(哈佛与MIT所在地),以为亚洲学生构筑起桥梁、连通哈佛肯尼迪学院丰厚的教育资源为初衷建立起来,致力于为学生提供学术知识和实践经验、世界前沿的领导力训练,并带领学生进行调研,优秀者可在CAL出版书籍中刊载——为调研、发展和传播领导力相关的研究成果及各行业领先的实践经验,在迄今4年的运作中,他们已经出版了6本由32位来自哈佛及其他顶尖院校学者和25位项目学员联合出版的书籍。
师资力量是否仅限32位学者?答案是否定的,在CAL的体系中,拥有250位来自哈佛的学者,已有1.26万学员受益,开办超过62场研讨会和领导力项目,项目曾到访超过44座亚洲城市,而在2017年8月,他们来到了北京,来到了群陆——只来到了群陆。

在8月的课程中,学识渊博的导师以多种灵活的趣味方式鼓励师生和学员之间交流,激发灵感,通过亲历实践来掌握知识,获得好评如潮。

在ALI课程中,课程设计及导师授课中,都基于知识、实践和身份认同的课程框架,传授对于个人、组织和全球范围的不同层级中,领导力能力的不同构成。由资深管理者、高校学者和胸怀大志的青年精英来进行世界顶尖的领导力教授和实训。

在未来十年,世界将会变成什么样儿?
对John提出的这个问题,大家一开始有点摸不到头脑。在场的学员思考后回答,人工智能的发展势头也许将让智能机械代替人类,而人类将从事文化、创意等创新工作。
受此启发,有家长认为由于重复性工作都将由机械代劳,也许未来人类的收入构成也将有变,不再维持大部分人都领取固定薪水的现状,而是大部分人的收入也将以股份的形式构成。

那么,其他国家的学员是如何看待这个问题的呢?John展示了他们得到的海外学员观点:
“世界的联系将变得更为紧密”、“全球经济飞跃”、“对个人隐私、安全性和恐怖主义等主题的关注度将持续上升”、“更多跨文化、跨语种、跨行业和跨越地理限制的团队合作”……与现场学员思路不谋而合的是,海外学员也提到了“创新工作者将更具有竞争力”。
是的,我们将迎来the conceptual age(概念化时代),一个由创新主宰的时代。
在人类历史的长河中,我们从由人类主要劳动力务农的农业时代,到劳动力集中于工厂工人岗位的工业时代,再走到现在以脑力劳动者为主流的信息时代,随着影响力、科技和全球化的发展,我们将步入概念化时代。

面对无尽体量的知识海洋,我们更应懂得,如何提升运用能力,如何将知识运用在实操中。
对此,毕业于哈佛肯尼迪学院的ALI导师Samuel有更全面的讲解。

Let me begin by introducing myself and then will talk a little bit about what we are going to cover in this program.
My name is Samuel Kim. I am originally from Korea. I spent about ten years of my life in Korea, and then spent the next ten years in a foreign country. My parents were humanitarian workers and we happened to live in a country called the Philippines. It was a very eye opening experience for me. That is where my leadership journey begins. I began to question myself at the very young age. What is good leadership? What does it mean by leadership?
Leadership was for me at a young age the lesson I have taken was that you have to know why is so important to have a right leadership but also act upon that leadership that you are wanting to exercise.
I have taken up my major in law, economics and political science, because that time I felt that if I were a leader in the government or maybe politics maybe able to do something meaningful for the community in general.
My first job was to work at the UN. Working at the UN was very eye opening experiences as well. I was able to meet with lot of leaders. There are lot of problems out there in the world. When you see this problem there are two different things you can do. Either you do nothing about it or you can do something about it.
I decided to go to Harvard Kennedy School and spending next four years there studying learning from world leading scholars learning picking up some world leading best practices and I begin to think deeply about what I can do something good for Asia. Of course, China is an amazing country case of a huge very important country in Asia that’s where the dynamics is.
Lots of start-ups, big companies coming up and we are catching up the west with all the hard effort that you make it. But on the other note, we have to also think about what kind of world are we envisioning and now it is becoming more and more significant for the Asians to take up that role? In the past west has been dominant force but Asia also should need to think responsibility what the world should look like?
And doing so, we need a lot of leaders. Leaders who can think about how future should look but also acting upon future should look how we can really really help to bring in the people out there into making a better society for Asia and for the world.
In Asia in general our success has been define by how well you do on your test and perhaps which school you are going to which company you are going to and looking at that lot of that has been really focused on yourself. My success is most important for myself. How can I be a very important player in our society someone who is great needed in our society, who the society will greatly appreciate for you being there.
Our world or our country or all of us we really want to see China for example should become even better richer but everyone probably want to become very happy a very proud member of Chinese. But it takes all our effort. We can not leave this role and responsibility to the leaders out there. This take everyone’s efforts.
This program as a mini Harvard Kennedy School Harvard Business School program that we are bringing we have about eight teaching fellows they will be heading to Beijing to really help you to channel so call the Harvard way of teaching and learning, Harvard way of raising leaders how do Harvard raise leaders cultivate leaders. There is a reason why Harvard is Harvard. Of course we have a long tradition of research but also that contents that they have developed, the tools and the skills and this is exactly what we are wanting to channel what we are trying to give it to you. While we are there we are going to spending about five days together but want to give you the best that we can.
We really want whoever is coming to attend this program you will be able to really pick up that right knowledge the skills and the tools but also the mind for your community. And in doing so we really wish that you will become a very important very much needed individual. This is exactly what we do. We really want to give what is needed out there in order to think and act and be like leaders.
One of the program I have been leading is called building powerful personal branding we will be looking into the case studies of many leaders out there. Some of the tips and skills and then tools perhaps we will really help you to practice it and really make it yours.
We are going to have a very excited five days together and each day we will call the plenary session and that is where all of you guys will be becoming to one room. I will be conducting a workshop call Building a Powerful Personal Branding.
It is very important who we are. We have to let other people know what kind of value that we bring. We want to be become a person who is really needed in our society.
And doing so we are going to do engaging couple of exercises, first and begin by introducing some case studies of the leaders from the political side, government side, many from cooperate side also even the start-ups. The journey that we will be taking for the first each of the morning in five days and we are going to get you very busy we are going to get you to think a lot we are going to help you to come up with some tangible ideas how you can brand yourself.
One of the thing that we are going to do this is writing a sample recommandation letter for yourself. Recommendation letter is very very important.
After this plenary session you guys will having a break out session and depending on what topic you have chosen we have three in the morning under workshop on leadership and in the afternoon we are going to study on the workshop on innovation. Each one of you guys will be taking two different workshop and what you have been chosen you will be taking out for next five days. Very interesting topics like negotiation which I have been also conducting, we are going to talk about cross cultural communication, we are also going to talk about design thinking, the 21st centurys skills.
But also something is also very practical, strategic project management. We really want you to pick up the right skills, a very needed skills like negotiation.We also have what we call the professional development, we will also talk about how to do an interviews.
We will also talk about how to communicate very effectively. Communication is very important. We need to have very effective speaking and writing skills. We are going to help you how to prepare a resume.
We have a lot, I know it is a one week a very short period of time but again we want to fully maximize this time we are given and give you all we can, given the best we know.
Team building, we are going to talk about how Amazon within their community form a team. How do we form a team? How do we perform? These are all the topics there would be discussing. And also we are going to talk about EQ, the emotional intelligence very important.
Just five days will not be the end of this program. You will be the start. We want to keep a very good network with you guys. We will be facing a lot of difficulties. Sometimes you need people who can help you, giving you some advices some tips because these people that we bring has already gone through what you are going through these days.
It is my wish: we want you to be playing a very active a member of your community. We want to hear a lot of great stories. I want to hear that some of you have establish a start-up that is doing well. We really want you to help for prepare for your future. We really help you to design type of future you want to look. I really look forward to coming to Beijing to conduct this program. Again, I look forward to seeing and meeting you there. Thank you!

在开头,我先来自我介绍一下,然后再谈一谈我们的项目中包含的内容。
我是Samuel kim,原籍韩国。我在韩国生活了十年后,又在另一个国家生活了十年——我的父母是人权工作者,我们前往居住的那个国家,是菲律宾。对我来说,那是令我打开视野的一段经历。那也是我的领导力之旅开始的地方。我从小的时候就开始自问:什么是好的leadership(领导力)?leadership的涵义是什么?
“leadership”是我从小就在接受的教育,(我所学到的)“leadership”是:你应懂得,具备正确的leadership才能是多么重要,不仅如此,我也会激发你去进行对于领导力的实践。
我大学专业是法律、经济和政治学,那时我感到,如果我是政府上层或政治家,也许我能为整个社会做出一些有所裨益的事情。
我的第一份工作是在联合国就职。在联合国工作同样也是一段令我视野大开的工作经历。我能够结识很多领袖。在世界范围内,有很多问题亟待解决。当你意识到这些问题是,你有两种选择:或是袖手旁观,或是为它付出努力。
我决定前往哈佛肯尼迪学院就读,并在接下来的四年跟随世界上最领先、最好的实践经验,而且我开始深入思考我能为亚洲做些什么有益的事情。当然,中国是在亚洲占据非常重要地位的、令人惊叹的国家,这也是(我来到这里的)动力。
很多创业公司、企业巨头兴起,并且我们(亚洲)正因你们付出的辛勤努力来赶超西方。但是另一方面,我们也应思考:我们对世界有怎样的设想;越来越重要的亚洲人应扮演怎样的角色?过去西方曾拥有强势力量,但是亚洲也有责任思考,世界应该是怎样的?
要做到这些,我们需要很多leaders(领袖)。能够思考如何才能切实地为了帮助亚洲乃至世界的人们,建设一个更好的社会——仰望未来的星空,并脚踏前行的实地的——leaders。
在亚洲,我们对成功的定义都已经局限在你的考试成绩、你将要就读的院校、你前往就职的公司这些,仅仅专注于你自身的很多事情上。我的成功只对我自己最重要。我如何才能在社会中扮演一个被社会深深需要、乃至得到社会的广泛肯定的角色。
我们的世界、我们的国家,或者说我们所有人,都很迫切地希望看到中国——比如说,更加富足——但是每个人也应为作为中国人的一份子而骄傲。但是这需要我们所有人的努力。我们不能把自身和领袖的角色与责任分割开来。这需要所有人都付出努力。
这个项目作为一个迷你的哈佛肯尼迪学院、哈佛商学院的课程,我们将有几位导师来到北京,亲自帮助你们步入称之为“以哈佛的方式教学和学习、以哈佛的方式提高领袖、以哈佛的方式培养领袖”的正轨。这就是哈佛之所以为哈佛的原因。当然,我们也有深厚的调研历史、他们发展完善的内容、工具和技能,这也是我们希望引导你、努力想给予你的。在这里共同度过的五天间,我们将呈现出我们所能做到的极致。
我们非常希望来参加项目的你,能真正掌握知识、技能和工具,以及为社会奉献的意愿。我们做这些,也是真切地希望你能成为一个非常重要、非常被需要的人。这也正是我们为之努力的事业。我们真心希望,能传授给你社会所需的真正地像一名领袖一样思考和行动的方式。
我所教授的课程之一就是“建立强有力的个人品牌”,我们将会通过诸多现实领袖的案例来学习。其中一些贴士、技巧和工具,我们都可能会带你去实践,让你自己去亲身实现。
我们将共同度过非常激动人心的五天,每一天我们都会召开全体会议,这也是我们所有人齐聚一堂的时间。我会指导你们进行“建立强有力的个人品牌”的研讨会。
“我们是谁”是非常重要的(内容)。我们需要让他人知道我们能够带来的价值。我们希望能够成为我们的社会真正需要的人才。
在此期间,我们将进行一些小练习,会以介绍政治、政府、企业甚至创业公司的案例为开端。我们在五天中的每天早晨都会以此为开端,而且我们会让你们每一天都非常充实,忙碌于思考很多如何建立资深品牌的具体想法。
在课程中,我们还会带你为自己撰写一份推荐信,推荐信对你是非常非常重要的。
在全体集会后会有一个课件,接下来,上午无的课程中,你可以在三门在“领导力”主题研讨会下的课程中选择;在下午我们将会进行“创新”主题的研讨会。你们中的每个人,都将咋接下来的五天内参与两个你们自己选择的不同主题的研讨会。比如,我自己也教过的谈判主题,就是很有趣的课程,我们会讨论关于跨文化交流的内容,我们还有包括创新思维、21世纪(需要掌握的)技巧等主题。
并且也有一些很具有实践性、战略性的项目管理内容。我们真的希望你从中收获正确的技能,学到一些必要技巧,比如谈判。其中还包括专业发展能力的建立,以及在面试中应该如何表现(等内容)。
我们也会讲解如何更好地交流,交流是非常重要的技能。我们需要具备行之有效的语言和写作能力。我们将会帮助你去准备你的简历。
我们能在很多地方帮到你,我知道,一个星期很短暂——我再次申明——我们希望能够最大程度利用我们相处的时间,给予一切我们能给予你的帮助,把我们掌握的最好的知识教授给你。
关于团队建设,我们将会讨论亚马逊如何在社区内建立一个团队(的案例)。我们要如何组建一个团队?我们如何运营?这些都是我们所要讨论的主题。而且我们还要讨论EQ(的重要性),情感智力也是至关重要的。
项目过程5天时间并不是【亚洲领导力计划】的结束,而是一个开始。我们将会和你们保持紧密的网络沟通。在人生中,每个人都有可能会遇到很多困难。有时你需要一些能够帮助你的人,给你一些建议、一些提示。而我们的教研团队成员都已经经历过你所经历的人生阶段。
我希望——我们希望你在你的圈子中成为非常活跃的一员。我们想听到你带来一大堆了不起的事儿。我们想听到你们中的一些人已经建立了初创公司,并且良性发展。我们真心希望能够帮到你,为你的未来做好准备。我们希望能够帮助你设计和实现成为你未来想成为的样子。我真的很期待来北京开展课程。
